Boards and Commissions
In addition to the Mayor and City Council, the City of Jersey City is also governed by various Boards and Commissions which independently address issues such as Planning, Zoning, Historic Preservation, and the newly revived Environmental Commission.
Generally, these bodies are made up of representatives from the City Council, the City government, and the public. All appointments to Boards and Commissions must be approved by resolution of the City Council and serve 3-year terms.
