Description
The Division of Buildings and Streets is comprised of skilled building equipment operators, responsible for the City’s infrastructures, Court Houses, Police and Fire Stations, Libraries, Parks and numerous Municipal facilities. Examples of the types of equipment we maintain include but are not limited to: boilers, HVAC systems, electrical systems and plumbing. We also perform routine preventive maintenance on all building components to extend their life expectancy and prevent untimely failures.
This Division provides custodial services to City buildings mentioned above and maintains 200 miles of City roads, performing necessary concrete work and preventive maintenance of City streets.
Emergency calls are received at any time for repair and/or replacement of various items or services provided by our plumbers; electricians; masons; carpenters; sign makers and maintenance; welders; heavy equipment operators; laborers; painters; custodians; and boiler operators. Also, snow removal when needed at various municipal facilities (steps, walkways and parking lots). Our office staff assists in the daily operations and is responsible for maintaining records for all aspects of this Division.
