The City has a fleet of approximately 700 units which includes but is not limited to such diverse units as Police patrol cars, various Fire and emergency service trucks such as tower ladders and pumpers, dump trucks, forestry aerial lifts and 54 passenger busses. Motorized Equipment oversees the buying/leasing of all vehicles including the preparation of written specifications as well as all repairs and maintenance and auctioning/retiring units as necessary.
Motorized Equipment performs vehicle and equipment repairs and routine maintenance including engine overhauls and tune-ups; brake, clutch and transmission repair and replacement; electrical system repair; hydraulic system repair; acetylene and arc welding; tire mounting and repair. Motorized Equipment also performs electronic engine operation diagnosis and complete lubrication service.
Motorized Equipment services all city two-way radios and the audible/visual warning system as well as ensuring that adequate supplies of fuel, oil, transmission fluid, lubricants, antifreeze and washer fluid are available to operating departments.
