COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program Now Open

The State of New Jersey has opened a new COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program. The program is available until December 2020 to assist New Jersey households unable to pay their rent/mortgage due to COVID-19 impacts for any time since March 2020.

The COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program will pay back-rent/mortgage and rent/mortgage payments on behalf of eligible households directly to the landlord. To be eligible for this assistance, you must:
  • Be a New Jersey resident
  • Have an annual income at or below 450% of the Federal Poverty Line
  • Confirm that you were unable to pay rent/mortgage due to COVID-19 and have not received any other type of housing assistance.
Households may apply online at: https://www.nj.gov/humanservices/covid19housingassistance/form.shtml.

Applications will be processed until funding is exhausted or no later than December 18, 2020, whichever happens sooner. An eligible household can receive housing assistance payments up to $25,000.
