IMPORTANT CDC UPDATE

The CDC strongly advocates receiving any vaccine rather than being unvaccinated. It's your choice which vaccine to receive, but based on the latest evidence on vaccine effectiveness, vaccine safety, rare adverse events and consideration of the U.S. vaccine supply, the CDC recommends the mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Moderna or Pfizer) over the Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine.

COVID Vaccine Update

Vaccines - 5 to 11-year-olds in New Jersey

  • Eligible to receive the pediatric Pfizer vaccine
  • The vaccine is administered in two doses, three weeks apart
  • Lower dose than the dosage for those ages 12 and older
  • Parents encouraged to read the fact sheet, discuss with their pediatrician, family physician, healthcare provider

Boosters for adults 18 years of age or older

  • All Pfizer and Moderna vaccine recipients are eligible six months after completing primary two-dose series
  • J&J vaccine recipients are eligible for booster two months after  primary dose

Homebound residents who need an in-home vaccination should contact the call center 201-373-2316

The Department of Health is providing access to individuals COVID vaccination records through NJ Docket, a secure and free smartphone app, which is CDC approved.

With the holidays approaching and the Delta variant continuing to impact the state, all eligible individuals are encouraged to get booster shots as they consider travel and gatherings for the holiday season.
