Division of Food & Nutrition

The Division of Food & Nutrition strives to provide healthy food access to all the residents of Jersey City. Services include home-delivered senior meals, a/k/a
Meals On Wheels and senior congregate meals at
Senior Lunch Sites. Meals On Wheels is available to homebound/bedridden seniors who are unable to provide for their own nutritional needs. For more active seniors that are not homebound, we provide the Congregate Meals Program at Senior Lunch Sites city-wide. Congregate Meal Sites provide seniors with an opportunity to gather together in one place to enjoy a hot meal accompanied by other members of the community.
In addition, the Division of Food & Nutrition administers the City's Adopt-a-Lot community gardens, the Healthy Corner Store network, and is involved in coordinating Summer Meals for Jersey City school-aged children in the summer months. Food & Nutrition also coordinates Jersey City's robust Farmers Market network, and is seeking to expand in ways that ensure equitable access to fresh produce for residents across Jersey City.
