IMMIGRANT VICTIMS OF CRIME AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING
Jersey City takes seriously its commitments to immigrant victims of crimes and human trafficking. Mayor Steven M. Fulop’s 2017 Sanctuary City Executive Order calls on municipal employees to ensure all immigrants are welcome in Jersey City, with specific directives for law enforcement officials to assist applicants for U- and T-Visas.
Director of Public Safety James Shea serves as Jersey City’ designated U- and T-Visa officer. He and his designees are dedicated to serving potential victims of crime and human trafficking seeking an I-918B Law Enforcement Certification.
The
Division of Immigrant Affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services also offers U- and T-Visa applicants assistance with social, legal, and health services, and can liaise with law enforcement for certification purposes, as needed.
