Manhattan Avenue/Franklin Street Safety Demonstration Project

In accordance with the City's Vision Zero plan, Bike Master Plan, and Complete Streets policy, a demonstration project was installed along Manhattan Avenue between Summit Avenue and Central Avenue and along Franklin Street between Central Avenue and Sherman Avenue. The project featured safety improvements including a two-way protected bikeway along with curb extensions to enhance pedestrian safety. Within the project limits, Manhattan Avenue was converted to one-way eastbound traffic and Franklin Street was converted to one-way westbound traffic.

Installation of the demonstration project occurred on Friday, June 7th and Saturday, June 8th and was removed on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024.

A community meeting was held on August 1st, 2024 to review the results of the demonstration project.
