Division of Senior Affairs

The Jersey City Division of Senior Affairs serves as a liaison between the thirty thousand senior citizens in Jersey City, and the City administration.

Prior to the COVID-19 crisis, Senior Affairs operated two Senior Centers which offer lunch, recreational, educational and other activities to the seniors.

We assist seniors in many ways including housing assistance, reduced fare NJ Transit buses, creating medical photo ID cards, and assist them in getting the services they need.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Maureen Collier Center and the Joseph Connor Center will remain closed until further notice.

In addition, we are unable to provide in person services such as photo ID cards; but are doing our best to help the seniors in a safe manner while maintaining social distancing protocols.

There is still much we CAN do for Jersey City’s senior residents. Our office staff is available to assist you via phone.

  • Offer daily shopping trips to Downtown Shop-Rite for senior housing sites throughout Jersey City.  Complete list is HERE
  •  Assist seniors in securing housing.  They can call the office at 201-547-5750 and be interviewed by phone.
