The Office of Innovation was founded in 2015 by a generous grant from Bloomberg Philosophies to tackle challenges in City government with data-centric solutions. Innovation focus areas include: Sustainability, Modernization, Project Greentime, Helping Small Businesses, and Affordable Housing.
The I-Team uses Human Centered Design, a variant of the scientific method, to solve challenges: a question is asked, a hypothesis is made, data is collected and analyzed, a solution is proposed, and that solution is tested.
Some of Innovation’s recent projects include: building and launching the Jackson Hill PopUp retail incubator, the 2022 KIDS BIKE RIDE, and visualizing the City’s daily Covid-19 data.
