What is C.H.A.T 4 Change?
Interactions with Police Officers and Firefighters do not have to be negative. In fact, it can be a REWARDING experience. The Conversations Help Aid Transformation (C.H.A.T.) initiative encourages Jersey City youth to strike up a conversation with a JCPD officer or JCFD firefighter at designated times and locations. After your CHAT, earn a badge. Collect as many badges as you can to earn prizes and be honored at this summer’s National Night Out in your neighborhood. .jpg)
Contest: As a reward for engaging a police officer or firefighter, children up to 18 years old can collect badges. Participants who collect the most badges will win prizes, be honored at your neighborhood National Night Out, and earn the chance to have your picture displayed in City Hall’s Rotunda Art Gallery the month of August. Photographs with first responders will be taken at some events.
Register: Have a parent register with the city by emailing CHAT4Change@gmail.com. Please include the participant’s name, age, and address in all emails. Don’t wait to register… we’ll email you tips on when to find the next badge event. By the close of the contest, send in the number of total badges collected by each participant. You must also bring all your collected badges to your district’s National Night Out for a final count.
